Below are some of the most common questions that families ask us when they visit the school. Please contact our Admissions Team if you do not see your question below.
Applications are accepted for all students applying for Pre-K2 up to Grade 11 as early as October of the year prior to enrollment, with the understanding that a decision may not be made until the following spring when class sizes have been finalized. The re-enrollment process for current students occurs in February/March each year.
If you wish to inquire about seat availability in a specific grade, please complete an inquiry form on our Apply Page or email us. The only way to be placed into the wait-pool at CIS is to be accepted for that grade level.
Admissions occurs throughout the school year for all grades if space allows.
If an Early Childhood Applicant is currently attending a school (including daycare), any progress reports need to be included in the application. Elementary and Middle School students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 must submit a complete set of academic records from the past two years (current and previous school year reports). High School students must submit report cards from all high school years and official transcripts.
An admissions test will be administered for students entering from Pre-K4 through Grade 12.
Entry to the PreK2 program is limited to students who meet the age requirement of two years old by September 1st of the enrollment year. Students who enter PreK3 must be toilet trained before the date of enrollment. PreK3 is limited to children who turn three years old by September 1st of the enrollment year. Entry to PreK4 is limited to children who are four years old by September 1st, and so on. The school will follow these general guidelines for all grade levels from PreK2 to Grade 12.
A prerequisite to be accepted in to a grade is that the previous academic year has been completed.
At CIS we are able to provide support in the form of targeted intervention and accommodations to students who can access the general curriculum. We do not admit students who require a modified curriculum. We also limit the number of students who receive Learning Support based on the capacity of Learning Support Teachers to meet their needs and to balance the learning needs of classes and grade levels to ensure a diversity of learners in our community.
Once all documents (including confidential student reference form) has been received and testing has been completed, the admissions committee can usually provide an enrollment decision within two weeks.
You can find more information about the uniform guidelines and ordering process here on our website.
The Early Childhood team will determine if this request can be facilitated. Please inform the classroom teacher, Principal and EC coordinator of your request. If it is your desire to move your child into the Pre-K2 full-day program prior to the start of the school year please reach out to the CIS Admissions department.
If you would like to change your child the Pre-K2 full-day program, there are four times in the school year when this can be processed:
- Prior to the start of the school year
- After billing quarters 1, 2 and 3.
