Vacancies
We are seeking dedicated and adaptable individuals to join our team as Substitute Teachers and Substitute Teacher Assistants on an on-call basis. These roles are ideal for those who enjoy working in a dynamic school environment and supporting student learning across a variety of grade levels.
As an on-call position, your schedule will vary based on school needs, offering flexibility while providing valuable experience in education. Responsibilities may include:
- Delivering prepared lesson plans and ensuring continuity of learning
- Supporting classroom management and student engagement
- Assisting teachers with instructional activities and administrative tasks (for Substitute Teacher Assistants)
- Adapting quickly to different classroom environments and grade levels
Rates:
- Substitute Teacher: CI$80 (½ day) – CI$150 (full day)
- Substitute Teacher Assistant: CI$40 (½ day) – CI$75 (full day)

Caymanian Teacher Training Program
Cayman International School (CIS) is continually seeking qualified Caymanians who have demonstrated excellence in teaching within an American international school environment and who possess a strong understanding of the curricula and systems utilized at CIS.
CIS is also committed to supporting the professional growth of Caymanians by providing training and learning opportunities designed to develop familiarity with the school’s systems and practices, with the intent of fostering future employment at CIS.

Cayman International School offers Caymanians who desire to be educators in the future an opportunity to train as a student teacher and learn the curricula and systems of CIS. CIS encourages Caymanians who are enrolled in a teacher education program at an accredited university to complete their student teaching/practicum experience at Cayman International School. Student teachers at CIS benefit from supervision and training from a highly-qualified educator, as well as excellent professional development opportunities that support them in their growth and learning.
Cayman International School offers Caymanians who are currently qualified teachers an opportunity to train in the role of a substitute teacher and learn the curricula and systems of CIS. CIS encourages Caymanians who have a teaching certification to be employed as an occasional substitute teacher. This employed position provides an opportunity for substitute teachers to experience CIS classrooms when called upon. Caymanian substitute teachers also benefit by having an opportunity to engage in CIS professional development sessions to further their educational growth. A teaching license is required by the Ministry of Education in order to be eligible for employment in this position.
Cayman International School offers Caymanians the opportunity to serve as Substitute Teacher Assistants, supporting classroom instruction while gaining experience within the CIS learning environment. CIS encourages Caymanians who have experience working with children or in educational settings to take on this role.
This position provides valuable classroom exposure when called upon, further enhancing their skills and understanding of classroom practices and the CIS educational system.
P.A.C.E. Program
Cayman International School is continually seeking to employ Caymanians who have an interest in a teaching career at our school. CIS began the PACE program in 2019 to provide Caymanians with experience to our curricula and systems that CIS utilizes. This program is a full-time, paid position for 1-2 years where the candidate will receive training to become a teacher.

Our team recognizes that school years for children of all ages are periods of tremendous growth, curiosity and transition in the lives of students and parents. We also recognize that students of different ages have different needs. Through good teaching practice and modeling we facilitate the students’ intellectual, social, emotional and physical growth through school and beyond. Indeed, students’ well being is at the center of our teaching practice and as such, teachers must be committed to working collegially, collaboratively, energetically and enthusiastically to enhance the learning environment for students, staff and community.
Our school and its community value staff who demonstrate excellence, collaborate, communicate in an effective and timely fashion, have a sense of humor, are flexible, celebrate diversity, appreciate and engage in Caymanian culture, accommodate different learning styles and sponsor after school activities.
After initial screening of applications, we conduct an online interview with long-listed candidates via the HireVue platform. Once the online interviews are completed, short-listed candidates will be contacted to arrange an online interview.
Three confidential written references from supervisors will be required online if you are short-listed.
Depending on the role, there may be rare times that finalist candidates may be invited for a final round of in-person interviews – and possibly presentations – at the school. In such cases, reasonable travel and accommodation expenses will be covered. Finalist candidates currently on island may be requested to do onsite presentations, teaching and role-based tasks.
For successful candidates, offers of employment follow once all security checks have been completed.

Employment opportunities for non-teaching partners living in the Cayman Islands tend to depend on the career of the partner. Some partners of our international staff serve in the fields of education, health, finance, technology, law and hospitality. Working in the Cayman Islands requires a work permit for non-Caymanians.
